Raising Gliomatosis Cerebri Awareness Through Research
Support research to identify effective treatment options and find a cure for Gliomatosis Cerebri is one of the main objectives of the GC Global Community. We also aim for collaboration with physicians and researchers to support international Gliomatosis Cerebri conferences to raise awareness and advance research. Read about updates on ongoing research and projects from partners we help fund or collaborate with.
GC Research Funded by Us
Towards a Multimodal Atlas of Glioma Diffuseness
Jeffrey P. Greenfield, MD, PhD | Weill Cornell Medicine | New York, USA
This groundbreaking project seeks to establish the first-ever standardized scoring system for tumor diffusiveness, a vital tool that will unlock critical insights into cancer biology. This tool will help answer key questions: Was GC a truly distinct disease, or one extreme of a broader spectrum? What biological programs drive tumors to spread? Most importantly, how can this knowledge inform treatment and improve patient outcomes?
Systemic and Intratumoral Immune Profiling
Maria Vinci, PHD | Ospedale Pediatrico Bambino Gesù | Rome, Italy
The study aims to generate a comprehensive resource of the GC patients’ immune system, analysing peripheral blood and matched tumour samples. This approach will reveal how the disease affects systemic immunity and how immune-tumour cell interactions shape the tumour microenvironment.
Identifying and Targeting a Dominant Myeloid—Tumor Axis in Pediatric Gliomatosis Cerebri
Dannis van Vuorden, MD, PhD | Marietta E.G. Kranendonk, MD, PhD Princess Máxima Center for Pediatric Oncology | Netherlands
The overall aim of the research is to identify the dominant myeloid—tumor signaling pathway driving the diffuse infiltrative pattern of gliomatosis cerebri (GC) and to validate its therapeutic blockade, with brain delivery achieved through focused ultrasound-mediated blood—brain barrier opening (FUS-BBBO).

Advancing GC Together: OUR GLOBAL PARTNERS
Institute of Cancer Research
ICR London, is one of the world’s most influential cancer research institutes. They are passionate about their mission to make the discoveries that defeat cancer.
SIOP Europe
SIOPE is in the process of putting together the largest pediatric GC case series from several SIOPe countries. All cases are being centrally reviewed (histology and radiology) and when tissue available, immunohistochemistry and molecular profiling are being performed.
Weill Cornell Brain and Spine Center
Weill Cornell Medicine is a research partner for the GC Global Community. They are an active participant of the GC-Conference. They are committed to excellence in patient care, scientific discovery and the education of future physicians in New York City and around the world.
Dana-Farber Boston Children’s Cancer and Blood Disorders Center
Our patients receive multidisciplinary care from neuro-oncologists, neurosurgeons, neurologists, and pediatric subspecialists. Currently, Been an active participant in the GC-Conference and is committed to research on finding the cure for this sickness.
SJD Barcelona Hospital
The SJD Barcelona Children’s Hospital’s Oncology and Hematology Department earned the reputation of being the national reference center to treat developmental cancer or commonly known as childhood cancer in Barcelona because of its research and treatment efforts. It is also an international reference center for determined types of tumors.
